MANY APPLICATIONS IN WELLINGTON (PRKSS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, September 9. An amazing rush was experienced for the building subsidy at the unemployment bureau to-day, and men had to be transferred from ordinary duties to handle the CO applications received by noon. The estimated cost of the buildings concerned is £109,727 17s lOd. Since the closing of the scheme was announced the estimated cost of buildings for which applications have been made is £152,51G 14s 4d. APPROVAL OF SCHEME (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELKOItAM.) HAWERA, September" 3 f. The Hawera Chamber of Commerce passed the following resolution:—"That this chamber is of the opinion that the Unemployment Board's No. 10 building subsidy scheme is one of the most effective yet produced for the relief of unemployment and urges, as its effect is just beginning to be felt, that it be continued for a further term, if necessary on a reduced basis."
