The 'shipping machinery exhibition has opened at Olympia, and in spite of the depressing conditions which have existed in the industry for so long it is an extremely healthy and progressive display, which has attracted engineers from all parts of the world. The exhibition is expected to provide impetus towards the trade recovery which from many signs appears to be on r its way. ) Conditions are certainly improving in the shipyards, and last month was the best of the year on the Clyde, where five new ships were launched and orders for seven others received. Similar conditions are reported from the Tyne and other shipyards.
