INCREASING VALUE OF SILVER
AMERICAN PROPOSAL j CONSIDERATION BY PRESIDENT (Received September 10, 8.14 p.m.)* RENO (Nevada), September 9. Senator K. Pittman to-night said that Mr Roosevelt was considering a plan by which the price of silver would be increased to 1.19 dollars an ounce. The plan provided for the issue by the President of an executive order directing United States mints to accept silver bullion from domestic producers and return minted coins, less 10 cents an ounce for minting charges. Senator Pittman said he believed that the question of the legality of the plan had been .submitted to the AttorneyGeneral, but he did not know if an opinion had yet been given to the President.
