A pineapple has been successfully grown by Mr W. S. Higgins, of Tuhikaramea road, Frankton, states the "New Zealand Herald." About five years ago he planted five tops of pineapples in a glasshouse. The plants developed and new shoots grew. Four of them survived and one is now surmounted by a ripe fruit which is about half the size of the average imported article. Another plant has borne a fruit whicli has not yet reached maturity. All the plants are in healthy condition. The glasshouse is not steamheated and no special manure was used.
