The monthly meeting of the Women's Institute was held at die parish hall, Hornby, on Thursday afternoon. Mrs C. Uugg (president) presided over a good attendance. Tlie resignation of Mi- D. |{. Blyth as secretary, consequent on his leaving the district, was received and accepted witii regret. Mr L. F. Thompson was appointed secretary. Tlie report of the dance was received and considered satisfactory. It was decided to purchase some matting and wire rope. A discussion took place regarding the holding of the annual swimming carnival, but final decisions were postponed for a further meeting. Mr T. F, Craytborno has been appointed clerk at the Post Office in place of Mr W. H. MeGrath, and took up his duties this week. Mr N. G. Seagar has been appointed temporary clerk at the railway station during the lamb, wool, and grain season. Mrs Itoss (Fiji), who has been spending n short holiday in Lincoln, has left for Cbristchurch. Mrs Harvey and her daughter are the guests of Mrs W. Hoploy.
