BROADSIDING.

MEETING TO-NIGHT. A GOOD PROGRAMME. It is impossible to conceive a greater programme of broadsiding than that to bo presented at Monica Park speedway to-night. The great riders, Clem Mitchell, of Adelaide, and Wally Kilmister, tho New Zealand and Wembley star, w.ho delighted thousands with their riding last Saturday, will bo tho chief providers of thrills in a programme that should bo packed with excitemont. There is a record entry of 31 riders aud there will bo 22 events. With faster machines, greater experionco of tho local track conditions, and an even keener desiro to win, Clem Mitchell and AVally Kilmister, in the three heats in which they will meet to-night, will provide a battlo' royal. Kilmister should not be underestimated. He Btands to-day among tho leading riders in England. His fame has poihaps been dimmed by the fact that he is not qualified to tako part in the test matches between England and Australia, as he is a New Zoalander. His defeat of "Tiger" Stevenson and his magnificent efforts in the international match race last Saturday are tho truo tests of his ability. The t'mes at Monica Park have been improved of late, and will be even nioro improved when thesa two champions meet—one keen to maintain an undefeated record and the other determined to aventje the defeat of lust week. Kilmistor's defeat was so narrow and hij ability to rise- to tho oocasion i* «o well known that Mitchell's victory seems doubtful. Whoever wins will be forced to ride to the limit. Theso match races to-night promise the greatrst racing ever seen at Monica Park. A particularly interesting item on the piogramme will he the Chevrolet Gold Helmet race bftween Percy Lunn. the holder, and Jack Hobson and Jack Roscoc, challengers. The contest will be run on now. lines. It will.be decided on & points basis. The holder will be required to meet each challungcr and the challengers will race themselves. In the event of a tie, a fourth race will be run. This now arrangement 'ill make the evcntß much more interesting. Another match race that should be productive of fine racin.-r is that between Charlie Blacklock. the daring Stamford Kridgc rider, and Peter Phillips, the leading local rider at Wellington last eeason. Phillips has shown form at the, local speedway that for confiftency would be difficult to rqusl. He will lie mounted on a faster machine nnd good racing can be safely anticipated.
