TWO OF YACHT'S CREW ' RETURNING. \ in VESSEL STILL IN ELLICE , ISLANDS. Two members of the crew of the auxiliary ketch WaterHly, which left New Zealand ten months ago to cruise in the Pacific, are. now on their way back '' to the Dominion, having left tho yacht at Funafuti in the EUice Islands. They ' are Messrs J. K. Atkinson and P, A. M. Williams. This information was received reeent> ly by wireless from Funafuti by ,Ht F. J. Parson, father of Mr F. St. j. Parson, one of the members of the «pw , who is still aboard the vessel. The other two men still on the Water! ily ' are Messrs W. J. Harris and E. 8. Gej. • ard. At present the WaterlUy is lying at Funafuti, having returned there recently. from another island of the EUice Grouft" Nukufetau, whore the crew has spint a good deal of time, having visited St twice Shortly they intend to sail .for Vaitapu in the Gilbert Group, planningto return again to Funafuti after about 1 three "weeks. Funafuti, which is m the centre of the Elliee Group, lies about 700 miles almost due north of Suva, in Fiji, It. is visited by shipping only rarely, the vessels touching there most frequently; being the London Missionary SoeietyV schooner John Williams "V\, and the Got- , eminent steamer belonging to the Wpst-,-ern Pacific High Commission. It « probable that Messrs Williams and Ai-,' kinson will Teturn to Fiji on oncof, these vessels and come on to -X(W Zealand on one of the trans-Pacific mail , steamers. . The Gilbert Group, whkh the Water-, lily is about to visit, lies about 5W miles north by west of the EUice Group _ and extends for about 200 miles each side of the equator. , "
