BRITISH WAR PENSIONS. NO REDUCTION IN RATE SINCE 1919. (BRITISH OFFICIAL WIBELESS.) (Keecived December 13th, 5.5 p.m., 11UGBY, December 11. Striking figures regarding British war pension payments were revealed by Major G. C. Tryon, Minister for Pensions. The Minister said that beneficiaries amounted to about 1,250,000 and that by the end of the present year Great Britain's expenditure on war pensions would have reached the figure of £1,060,000,000. It was being continued at the rate of nearly & 1,000,000 weekly. These figures were considerably larger than the amounts paid by any other nation—ally or cuemy—which took part in the War. The Cost of fedministration was less than 4d in the pound. Over 90 per cent, of disabled men wero now in a secure position regarding their title to the pension and, despite the subsequent reduction in the cost of living and fho severe economies practised in practically all other branched of national expenditure, war pension rates remained without reductions since they were fixed in 1919.
