IMPROVEMENT OF GODLEY PLOT. LANDSCAPE GARDENERS' REPORT. The committee- of landscape gardeners called together to consider, with Mr M. J. Barnott, Superintendent of Parks and Gardens, tho suggestions madb for tho improvement and boautification of the Godlcy plot in Cathedral square at tho conference on tbo subject, held on November 28th, has had a number of meetings, the Mayor (Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P.) told a representative of Thk Press- yesterday. The Mayor said that the committee's report had not yet reached him, but he understood that it was in course of preparation. Ho was arranging for tho report to bo submitted for consideration by Mr A r . J. Mean, Assistant Architect in the City Engineer's Department who returned recently from a visit to Australia. His idea was that Mr Hean might have some suggestions to offer as regards tho general lay-out, which could be considered by tho committee. "The whole matter, including the consideration of the tramway shelters," Mr Sullivan added, "will bo definitely completed in January so that whatever is required to be done in respect of planting and rc-turfing may be done at the proper time."
