DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES.

ST. MICHAEL'S CHURCH SCHOOL. A. colourful entertainment by the children was the feature of the breaking-up ceremony of the St. Michael's Church Day School, which was held in the Parish Hall last evening. The Rev. Charles Perry, vicar, presided, snd at the conclusion o£ the concert presented the prizes. There was a large attendance of parents and friends. The vicar, in briefly outlining the work of the year, aaid that it had been a happy period for a happy school. He paid a tribute to the work of the staff. He added that next year's roll number would bo increased owing to the reorganisation of the West Christchurch School. The children's entertainment, under the direction of Miss K.' Kiver, headmistress, and Miss E. K. Sinclair, was as follows: Songs, Miss Steeds's and Miss Box's pupilß, the infants, and Standards I. and II.; humorous play, "The- Lost Bounce," Standard V. girls; folk dance, Standards I. and II.; recitation, Jean Fowler; songs, Standards 111., IV., v., and VI. girls; dance, Tui Naylor; character song, "Old Ladies," the boys; "Doll Dance," Shirley Hewson: drill display, Standards 111., IV., V., and VI. girls; play, "The Silver Nutmeg," the in fants; song, "Nurses," Standards 11. and ■III.; play, "The Broken Cup."
