PUBLIC EMERGENCIES.
PROVIDING THE NECESSARY ORGANISATION.
Copies of the report of the Christchurch Public Utilities Committee on public emergencies, a synopsis of which recently was made public, have been forwarded by the deputy-chairman of the Utilities Committee (Mr A. R. Galbraith) to all the local bodies in and around Christchurch interested in the organisation of means to cope with public emergencies. Accompanying the report is a request for the co-operation and assistance of each local body. Mr Galbraith told a representative of The Press yesterday that it was desirable that the general committee proposed in the report should be set up, so that it may be possible to appoint the various sub-committees, even if only in provisional form, to which the different sections of the work are to be allotted. He understood that in Wellington an organisation similar to that proposed in Christchurch already had been established.
