NEW ZEALANDERS IN CANADA.

ASSOCIATION FORMED. | RESIDENTS OF TORONTO. During the past year a New Zealand Association has been formed in Canada, .with headquarters in Toronto, and last 1 month the first annual meeting was {held and officers elected. There are ! about 90 New Zealanders living in Toronto at present, and the Association hopes to entertain New Zealanders travelling through Toronto and to. hold dances and other social events. At the annual meeting of the Association, which was held at the office of Mr J. W. Collins, New Zealand Trade Commissioner for Canada and the United States, at 320 Bay street, Toronto, the following officers were elected:—Patron, Mr J. W. Collins (Wellington) ; president, Mr D. Banks (Cambridge) ; vice-president, Dr. Jas. Allen ('.Reefton); secretary-treasurer, Mr Leslie C. Knox (Christchureh); committee, Mrs Rea, Mrs Brumby, Mrs "Williams, and Miss Sheila Johnson, Messrs A. J. Carson, J. B. Willmott (Christchureh), Toswill. G. O. Morrison (Christchureh), W. Brumby, and C. M. Reid. The report of the secretary, i'or the past year recorded many enjoyable social events and showed a satisfactory balance-sheet. During the year a New Zealand Rugby football team had been formed in Toronto, playing the English code. The team had met with fair success, and with the coming spring season was expected to hold its own with any of the teams in the competition. The seasons in Toronto were confined to about six playing Saturdays in the spring and eight in the fall. The League was made up of 12 teams, composed mostly of former English players. The New Zealand team lacked numbers, having just a bare 15 or so to choose from. In face of these facts, the team was to be congratulated' on its performance i'or the first year. Mr C. M. Reid (Dunedin) was captain, and Mr A. J. Carson vice-captain.
