CANTERBURY CENTRE. | —, r PAPANUI CLUB APPLIES FOr| AFFILIATION. j I At last evening's special meeting of the Cycling Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic aad Cycling Association it was decided to forward to Wellington the application of the Papanni Amateur Cycling Club for affiliation, recommending that the affiliation be granted immediately. There were present: Messrs G. E. Giles (in the ehair), L» H. Hill, K. Beattle, C. Hamilton, F. Knipe, G. Hancox, T. Burnett, A. Hughes, and S. McNally. The tupaiiui Club's letter^ stated that before arriving at the decision to roaffitiate the club had mado representations to the New Zealand Cycling Federation, and had been advised by the secretary (Mr H. D. London) that in his opinion a conference was unnecessary. In view of the decision of the club to reaffiliate in the spirit and according to the terms of the resolutions of tho eonierene© at which all representatives had concurred, the elub was prepared to leave the interpretation of the resolution* to the Cycling Council, whose representative had presided at the request of the Cycling Federation. The club would be glad of information regarding its representation on the Cvolin|f Centie. The* chairman said that tho Papaniji Club wua entitled to only two delegates. It was decided to hold the Centre's decision over until after the discussion] with the cyclists, which was taken in committee. After the meetisg cam© out of committee it was reported that the following motion had been passed: — "That in the interests of the competitors, who at the presont time are in a more or less unsatisfactory position, that the affiliation of the Papanui Club he granted, and that the Cycling Council be asked *.o lift tixn suspension immediately."
