ON THE LAWN AT ADDINGTON.

Tho New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club's August meeting closed at Addington yesterday, when a good crowd, anxious to apply the knowledge of form and speed which, they had acquired during the two previous days' racing, enjoyed a fine programme of events, and, as on many previous occasions, were enthusiastic about tho excellent arrangements made, by the executive for their comfort and entertainment.

The sun shone brilliantly, and even the most enthusiastic "investors" were reluctant to leave their cosy seats on the stands and encounter the bite of the east wind on. their way to the totalisator.

The Mayor, Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P., and Mrs Sullivan were guests of honour at luncheon, Mrs Sullivan wearing a black frock, black cloth coat, trimmed with black and white fur, black arid white spotted scarf, and black cire straw hat.

Mrs C. M. Ollivier, wife of the vicepresident, wore a black tailored suit, cream wool lace jumper, black, red, and cream scarf, and black straw hat.
