NEW ZEALAND BUTTER.
LEAGUE PLAYERS AS j EMPIRE SALESMEN. | ______ I FOOTBALLERS FATTEN ON j PRODUCT. j The members of the English Rugby League learn at present visiting Christchurch have experienced the .fattening qualities of New Zealand butter, and promise to be fine potential salesmen of tbc Dominion's dairy produce. At the civic reception to the Englishmen yesterday, Mr P. T. Evans's recollection that the South At man; Rugby team had. fattened on New Zealand butter led to more than • one eulogy of its quality. "When the South African team las toured New Zealand they found that they could not ]keep off New Zealand butter, and consequently could not g«« their wight down," said Mr Ewtns. "Finally they had to .bo put on an allowance by their manager. 1 tbwh that the Englishmen have been enjoying our butter," he concluded, tor thev seem to be such a fine and healthy lot.'" . , Mr R. F. Anderloo, the financial ; manager of the team, confirmed Mr Evans's observation. "Our boy:* have put on weight, terrifically since they. came to New Zealand, and I am sure that it is the butter," he said. "1 aru not a robust man, but. T have put. on half a stone since I arrived here."
Players as Ambassadors. I Mr G. F. Hutchene, the manager of the tearu, pointed out that when the 192S English League tourists returned ] to England they had boosted colonial butter wherever possible. That proved that the men were not on tour merely to "kick the inflated cowhide," but acted as Empire ambassadorH and salesmen. "When 1 returned to England alter the ID2S tour 1 enquired ;is to the brand of butter we had beeu using: at my home," said Mr Tlut<>lieDX. "It was .Danish, but immediately I insisted on colonial, and we have used it since. In my district, since that date, there has been a big increase in the number of people using nothing but New Zealand butter, and a grocer recently told me that in tivo years the ratio of brands of butter used had been reversed I to the extent of nine to one in favour | of colonial."
