ECONOMIC CRISIS IN GERMANY.
-—♦ ADDRESS BY MR W. NASH, M.P. Mr AY. Nash, M.P., addressed a large audience of members of the Christchurch branch of the League of Nations Union at Canterbury College last evening, taking as th<? subject of his address "International Jlelations and War Debts." Mr Pi. A. CuthbeH was in the chair, and, in introducing the speaker, referred to his well-known dualities and sense of duty. * Mr N ash spoke of the colossal burdens imposed upon Germany by the reparations payments, and oi the breakdown in turn of all the modifying plans. In the end Germany, he i.aid, was in a stato of economic collapse. lie advocated a plan of readjustment of all war debt obligations, possibly controlled by a Bank of International .Settlements. Something, he thought, would have to be done to help Germany to recover her position. A "rote of thanks was moved b.v Mr A. C. Brassington, who said that Mr Nash fully realised the difficulties of the situation, and had not hesitated to present them.
