Tho insurance pool that_ tlio Unemployment Board is arranging in connexion with cover by local bodies employing men under the Boards No. 5 Scheme is being participated in by insurance companies doing accidont business. The Christchurch manager or one insurnnco company told a reporter tlikt tlio action taken by the companies was to assist local bodies employing No. u Scheme workers to get over a very real difficulty. Mr R. r. Bailey, officer in charge or the Department of Labour, Christchurch, a letter from whom on the subject was before Monday night's meeting or the Iticcarton Borough Council, .told the reporter that there was no intention on tlio part of the Unemployment Board to compel local bodies to insure with tho pool if they are able to seeuro as favourable or more favourable terms outside th« pooL
