PAPANUI PROGRESS LEAGUE.

. The monthly meeting of the Papanui Progress League was held last evening, Mr W. J. Boyce presiding over a fair attendance. Mr G. T. Baker said he had interviewed the manager of the Municipal Electricity Department (Mr E. Hitchcock) in regard to the lighting in Langdons road, but nothing further could be done in the meantime. However, an inspection of the lighting of the district was being made, and it was possible that some improvement might be carried out.

The General Manager of Railways (Mr P. G. Koussell) wrote with reference to the representations made relative to constituting Papanui a city station, for the purpose of computing railway fares. The manager regretted that the circumstances were not such would justify the Department giving effect to the request. It was decided that a deputation comprising Messrs Rickerby, Boyce, Uren, Gates, Palmer, and Sturrock interview the Railways Board in regard to the matter.

In regard to the white domes and the tram stop ip Memorial square, Mr Baker reported that the City Motor Inspector would make an inspection and furnish a report. It was decided to renew the request for the formation of the new road between St. James avenue and Windermere road.
