THE QUEENSLAND ELECTIONS.
ISSUE OF THE CAMPAIGN. (united press association—bt rlictmc TELEGRAPH—COPYBIGHT.) BRISBANE, June 4. The election campaign is going along quietly. Polling is on June 11th. The outstanding issue is the acceptance or rejection of the Premiers' Plan. The Labour Leader, Mr W. Forgan ' Smith, says he is opposed to the Premiers' Plan on the ground that it means drastic economies and the lowering of the standard of living. He also* is opposed to Langism, and is criticising the Moore Government for the step* it has taken to adjust the State finances. Mr Smith has the backing of the Brisbane Labour Convention for a proposal to spend at least twice the present annual revenue of Ms State. Mr Moore, on the other hand, declares that he will stand or fall by the Premiers' Plan. TRAIN-WRECKERS. THREE ATTEMPTS IN SYDNEY. SYDNEY, June 4. During the past three nights deliberate attempts have been made to wreck trains on three different suburban lines, but in each ease the' vigilance of the driver prevented a serious accident. The police are convinced that a gang of men is responsible. Three trucks were derailed at Hurstville, but on the other two occasions the train was stopped before it crashed into the obstacles on the lines.
