ACCIDENTS.
FALL PROVES FATAL. (PRES3 ASSOCIATION TSLEGBAII ) DUNEDIN, June 3. Henry Abbott, aged fifty, a married man, succumbed in hospital to chest injuries received on Wednesday through timber falling from the roof of the Masonic Hall, where he was working. FOOTBALLER INJURED. Gilbert H. Stringer, a young man living at 74 Fendalton road, was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital yesterday afternoon suffering from an injury to the right knee,_ sustained while playing football. His condition is satisfactory. FOOT CUT BY AXE. P. Aitken, of 42 Grant's road, Papanui, cut his right foot while using an axe yesterday afternoon. He was treated at the out-patients' department of the Public Hospital and discharged. BOY KILLED. (PKEiS ISSOnUTIO* TIUCQfIiM.) GISBORNE, June 3. When cycling into town this morning Edward Arthur Olsen, aged 14 years, son of E. A. Oken, a dairyfarmer, fell off his machine in front of an oncoming car, driven by Mrs G. Darton, a wheel of which went over the boy s head. The lad was removed to hospital and died early this evening.

Miss Wade, although frightened, remained cool, and retorted, "Oh, buzz offl" At that moment Miss Cross, who helps to keep the shop, came from the back parlour. Seeing the man with the pistol in his hand, she screamed. The bandit put the pistol in his pocket, rushed from the shop, mounted a bicycle, and rode away. ' ;
