HARBOUR LIGHT THEATRE. A special holiday programme will be screened at tho Harbour Light Theatre this afternoon and evening. It is headed by "A Dangerous Affair," a comedyromance of a mysterious "ghost gang." Jack Holt and Sally Blane head the cast. The supporting programme includes Screen Snapshots, a travelaugh, "Curiosities," and a cartoon. To-morrow "The Sin Ship," a drama of the sea, starring Louis Wolheim and Mary Astor, will be screened. The supporting programme includes a Radio comedy, a cartoon, another of the popular Mickey McGuire comedies, and a further episode of the serial. Kaia Toa Lodge Dance. The seventh annual dance of the Loyal Kaia Toa Lodge was held in the Oddfellows' Hall on Wednesday evening. In addition to lodge members and their friends, there were present many visitors from sister lodges in the district. The hall, which was crowded I to capacity, was artistically decorated. The Herdman-Fisk Orchestra supplied the music, and Mr E. Symonds provided supper extras. The arrangements were admirably carried out by a committee comprising Sisters J. Gilray (secretary), L. Keyes, A. Vidulich, P. Carter, B. Duff, A. Collins, and M. Watson. _ Among the visitors were representa--tives from the following lodges:—Loyal City of Norwich, Loyal Volunteer, Loyal Progress, Loyal Sister Pearce, Loyal Hand of Friendship, Loyal Benevolent, Loyal Papanui, Past Grand's Lodge, Loyal City of Norwich (Juvenile), and Court Queen of the Isles (Foresters). Miss P. Brown and Mr H. McKelvie won the lucky spot dance and Miss O. Webb and Mr E. Symons were the winners of a Monte Carlo waltz. Messrs S. Martin and A. Keyes were the M.C.'s. Pascoe, R. Taylor, It. Henderson, and E. Johnson. U.S.A. Mr G. Clark presided at a meeting of tho executive of the Lyttelton lieturned Soldiers' Association. Tho secretary (Mr H. Batten) reported that ho had visited the Christchurch executive and had applied for £lO to assist unemployed ex-Service men and for £5 for the relief of special cases of distress. A _ sub-committeo consisting of the president, secretary, and Mr A. Large was appointed to deal with cases of distress, nnd applicants for assistance arc asked to communicate with the secretary. It was resolved, to appeal to residents to give work of any kind to unemployed returned soldiers at the rate of 12s 6d a day, half of which will be paid by tho Association. It was de- j cided to keep a register of unemployed with particulars of their dependents. A vote of thanks was passed to the Ladies' Committee for providing a social evening. It was arranged to hold a social evening every fortnight, to be given by tho Ladies' Committee and the members alternately, during the winter months.
