PAPANUI SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
—♦ The Papainii School Committee met on Tuesday night. Present were Messrs W. Sandford (in the chair), C. Dyer (secretary), G. Wray, H. Donald, L. Chi ridge, F. Claridge, S. Craighead, J. Cains, W. Henderson, and J. Noble. The ' headmaster reported that the roll number was '259, and the atteudunce percentage U6. -Mr J. Glen had been appointed probationary assistant, iiiid under the rationing system his appointment would probably hold for t!ie tirst term only. The animal examinations showed Lbat the .standard of work in the school was .satisfactory, and thanks were due to the stnfE for their work during the year. The result of tlio Standard C proficiency examination was creditable. It. ivas resolved that the Waimuiri Council's attention be drawn to the .«<tate of the read owing to loose shingle at tlie jiinct-ion oi' Winters and North roads.
