j YESTERDAY'S MEETING. j The 'North Canterbury Hospital j Board met yesterday xnorning, Mr id. 'J. Otley presiding. Others present were IVfesdames T. Green, E. K. McCombs, J, A. Bean, Messrs J. K. Archer, G. Armstrong, J. S. Barnett, J. Boyd, H. R. Davidson. L. B. Evans, W. T. lf'oster, H. Hi. Holland, F. Horrell, D. McMillan, F. Bowell, A. liSinith, W. P. Spencer, W J falter, Drs. H. T. D. Acland and P. Stanley Foster. . The Hospital Committee reported that it had been decided to send a" open letter to the residents of the. Chatham Islands giving the Boards thanks to the many persons who had made contributions to the hospital there in the shape of fish, meat, butter, cream, vegetables, etc. " The County Clerk, Oxford, wrote that the residents of the district had held a public meeting recently and set up an advisory committee in connexion with the hospital. It was proposed that a meeting should be held in each year to receive tliat committee s report and to elect a new committee. The report was adopted. The Public Health Committee reported that the fees received since the last meeting of th oj Board amounted to £1022 10s od. ; During. November 8o different cases were treated m trie Infectious Diseases Hospital, which was six less than in October. A letter was received rrom the JJcoartincnt of Agriculture stating that the herds supplying milk to,the institutions had been tested for tiibeioulcfeis and gave satisfactory results. They were all in good condition. The report was adopted. The Benevolent Committee reported that since the last Boawl meeting l had dealt with 1858 applications for relief, representing 6389 persons. New cases amounted to 138. The report was adopted. At the conclusion of the meeting Mi Smith offered the compliments of the season to the chairman, who replied briefly. "
