PROGRESS LEAGUE.
NORTH BEACH AND WAIMAIKI. ■ « A meeting of the North Beach, and Waimalrl Progress Loftgue was held in the Lodge Kddia, Bowhill load, Mt ''Ralph Stringer over a good attendance. A letter was received from Mr K. A, M. Leaver resigning his position as president of the League on account of his) election as Mayor of New Brighton. The resignation was received With regret, and it was decided to record on the minutes the League's appreciation of Mr Leaver's services to the League since its inception. 1 It was also decided to nominate Mr Leaver to the annual meeting fof election as a life member. A deputation, consisting of Messrs Toon and Sibley, waited on the meeting with the request that a Christmas tree be arranged for the children of \the unemployed this Christmas. .It was decided to call a meeting of residorita for Wednesday evening to see what could be arranged. It Was decided to write to the Council asking that Berry street Extension be rolled, and that the Tramtvay* Board be asked to light the pole on the parking plade by the hall. Coiiiplaihts were made by members regtU'ding the state of certain gutters, so It was dedded to ask the Council 'to flush one and to refloat the bottoms 6f the channel ih BoWhlll road. Mr Eal£h Stringer was appointed president of the Leagtio in "place of MiLeaver, resigned.
