, A plan aiming at the diversion of the Heatheote river with a view to obviating flooding of portion G f the land on the south side of the stream was recently forwarded by the Christchurch Drainage Hoard to the Water Supply and Works Committee of the Cstv Council, and 'came before last iiiglit's'ineuting of the Council. It was stnted thot the w-jrk could be carried out in conjunction with improvements now bcins made to the river under the Xo. 5 .Scheme. The Council decided to approve of the work, provided it was not put to any expense in the matter.
