DISABLED SOLDIERS.
Meeting of rehabilitation COMMITTEE. . The Canterbury Disabled Soldiers' Civil Re-establishment Comniittee was held yesterday afternoon, when Mr H. Holland, presided. Also present were:—Messrs J?'. M. Robsou, E. I l '. Willcox, H. Collins, A, H. Parfitt, and J. Murphy, and \Y. E. Leadley. Mr Leadley a_ report concerning commercial rabbit farming, and the prospect ol using it as an avenue of employment for disabled soldiers. 6 . It was decided that the whole committee visit one of the rabbit _ farms in Christchurch and make an inspection of the work done. In the case a disabled soldier employed by the Railway Department as a casual clerk, and under notice of dismissal, it was stated, by the secretary that the dismissal had been withdrawn. The clerk, it was explained, at the last meeting, was drawing about £260 a year iiir his, railway position, but if he lost it. was entitled to £3 I~s a week iii pensions for doing nothing, not taking into account the possibility of an economic pension beine granted. He had a wife and two children.
