Favourable conditions prevailed for the opening of tlie fourth round of the Suburban Cricket Association's competitions ou Saturday last. W.M.C. bad first use of a good wicket at Sunnyside. but only scored the moderate total of 140, J l . Harris 34 being top scorer. At stumps' Sunnyside bad replied with 103 for the loss of two wickets. Shirley batted for three hours and three-quarters against Beckenhnm in order to register 214. The opening batsmen. N. Archer and .1. Watson, made a good stand, and L. Kirk and Archer carried on well, but a collapse followed, and the position was bad until Cummiogs and Agassiz added 70 for the eighth wicket, and the innings closed for 214. At stumps Beckenhain had scored 19 for no wicket. Railway made 217 against St. Albans, who, at stumps, had lost eight wickets for runs. SHIRLEY v. BECKENHAM. Shirlcv took first strike against Eerkenluiiu, opening with X. Archer and J. Watson. The formej battod confidently six fours, and ill partnership with Watson, who knocked up a respectable 117, compiled 85 before the latter was dismissed by Mills.
