NEW SOUTH WALES MEAT STRIKE.

The failure of the negotiations to end the meat strike is causing much Concern in the metropolitan area. Both sides are now marshalling their forces for a protracted struggle. The retail shops are rationing their employees, and quite a number will have to c!os>' at the week-end. The master butchers have ordered fresh supplies from adjoining States, but the Victorian Branch of the Meat Employees' Union lias resolved not to hnndle meat for New South a' es whilp the strike continues. A shipment is. however, on the way fron Queensland. It was reported to-night that another effort to end the meat strike will b<; made to-morrow by Mr Justice Pidilington, president of tho Industrial Commission of New South Wales.
