EX LIBRIS SOCIETY.
The first quarterly meeting of the New Zealand Ex Libria Society was held in Wellington last week (says the "Evening Post"). Dr. Guy H. Scholefieid presided over a large attendance of members. Tho secretary reported that letters had been received from two of the largest American bookplate societies asking for affiliation with the New Zealand body. This was agreed to. The Californian Bookplate Society requested that a vice-president be appointed for their society from New Zealand. The meeting decided to appoint Dr. Scholefieid for this position. Letters were also read from the Australian Ex Libris Society expressing keen satisfaction at tli© progress of the New Zealand body, and suggesting a reciprocal membership, which was to It was decided to publish the annual brochure in November, and to incorporato in it a catalogue of tho forthcoming exhibition of New Zealand plates. The brochure is to be published in a limited signed edition. It was decided to hold the first exhibition of New Zealand bookplates early in November, and tho offer of Fine Arts (N.Z.) Ltd., of their studio for this purpose was gratefully acoepted. It was also announced that Miss Hilda Wiseman, a well-known Auckland col-lector,-had kindly agreed to lend her collection to supplement the exhibition. Branches of the society arc being formed in Auckland and Dunedin, and it is possible that other branches will be formed later. Eighteen new members were elected to the society. At tlie conclusion of tho meeting an interesting address on "Bookplates in the Turnbull Library" was given by Mr Johannes Andersen.
