THE VIKING SPIRIT.
AN ADVENTUROUS PAIR. [THE PRESS Special Service.] AUCKLAND, August 30. Since ancient titaies Scandinavian peoples have roamed the waters of the earth in fragile craft, and the presence of an eight-ton cutter in the Pacific, manned by a Norwegian and his wife, is ar\ indication that tho spirit of the Vikings is not dead. The little vessel is named "Teddy," and already has been cruising for two years. Since leaving Norway there has been an addition to the crew, a son having been born to the adventurous pair. "1 met Mr and Mrs Thams at Tahiti," said Captain Salvesen, of the Penybryn, "and was informed by them that they -were not out to break records. 'We are going round the world,' Thams told me, and we expect to be in New Zealand for Christmas.' "I think he has been a seafaring man," suggested the captain with a smile, "but I understand he knows nothing of navigation except what he has taught himself. They brought their little craft through the Panama Canal, then on. to Tahiti."
