WILD SCENES AT BALMAIN. (UfllTJtß PBMS AS9OCIATIO* —»* BIdtCTJUO nnT.wfIai.pg—COPTBIOHT.) SYDNEY, August 30. Wild scones were witnessed at B;ilxnain, when a police inspector and 10 constables were menaced by a crowd of about 3000. The police were forced to draw revolvers to protect themselves. Sixteen men were arrested. The police had instructed the organisers of an unemployed meeting to abandon it; They arrested one speaker who ignored the order, and a mob then threatened the police, who eventually forced a way through.
