A beautiful day favoured ths Taranaki Hunt Club for its annual fixture held at New Plymouth to-day. The oourse was good but dead. Moerangi won the Lepperton Hunters' Hurdles prai tically all the way. Oallthe was with him nearly a mile from home, but Moerangi, with the inside running:, could not be headed, and won by - a length from Oallthe, with Day Lass six lengths away third, and Nimblefoot next. Orapai, a hot favourite, won the Opunake Scurry all the way. Lady Lulu followed him to the straight, but there Orapai strode away to win by two lengths. Biflex finished third a length and a half behind Lady Lulu. Miss Chatter, Screed, and Arvada followed. Arvada and Arakuku were left. Lady June led the maiden hunters home in the minor steeplechase. She was In front all the way and withstood a challenge by Razor 4 ,0 win by a head. Oopey, s> bit unlucky, was three lengths away third, and Ngawhaa was fourth. Huirangi Girl, Waitaunaha, and Maldos were fairly evenly backed for the Hunt Cup. Maidoß was suited by the turning course, and led all the way. Huirangi Girl challenged nearlng the straight, but Maldos beat her home by a length and a half. Nimblefoot, who was third, was six lengths away, and Waitaunaha was fourth. Ngawhns fell. Hopwood was favourite for the Stratford Handicap till just before tho machine closed, when a run.on Te Atiawa placed him at the head of the betting. To Atiawa was smartest away and led from Goblin Market, who, however, had had enough before turning for home, where Bonogne challenged. Bonogne looked to hit the front, but Gray rode a vigorous finish on Te Atiawa and the pair went across the line locked together. The judge's decision was for Te Atiawa by a nose. Melissa, always prominent, and Chief Link were next not far back. Denier lost his rider at the start. Of the competitors In the Hunters' Plat Race Potency and Oallthe wore the boat backed. Moerangi and Puawhato led tho field In the early stages. Potency was lying third and Rasnr was at the head of the remainder, with Oallthe In the middle of the field. Puawhato led into the straight and went away in the run home to win by three lengths from Oopey, who In a close finish for sectnd piece Just beat Rasor and Oallthe, Calltha was given no room in the straight or he would have been second. Four contested the Urenui Hack Handicap, for which Royal Finance was favourlu. She allowed Tentcall and Monoloff tq lesor to the straight, and then wont to the front to win by a length from Monoloff. Tentcall was four lengths away third.
