STOWAWAYS' CLOSE CALL.
(rRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGEAM) ' AUCKLAND, August 30. Four Chinese who arrived by the Fcnybryn to-day from Suva ewe their v lives to wireless. When at sea, three days out fromSuva, the captain of the Penybryn i*eceiyed a radio message to the effect that probably there were stowaways abdard. The hatches of one hold Were unbattened, and the Chinese were discovered among the nearly suffocated. But for the wireless message they would have died of suffocation and starvation. Appearing in the Police Court to-day they were ordered to be deported, Five whites also appeared in Court, having stowed away on the Omana at Newcastle. The captain said that m? others tried to stowaway. Ihe men- were fined the amount of their passage money, in default fourteen days' imprisonment.
