KAIKOURA. Rev, F. Robertson has returned to Kaikoum after attending a meeting of the Presbytery at Nelson. At the annual meeting of the shareholders of the Kaikoura Dairy Company the report and balance-sheet will be submitted. Mogridgo (Westenra) and D. B). Fisher (Rutherford). There was a moderate attendance at St. Paul's Hall to witness the lantern slides screened by the Rev. P. Robartsop. Subjects dealt with in- • eluded: "Mosquitoes, How Flies Spread Disease, Hygiene, etc." The weather was wet and militated against a good atendance. At the fortnightly meeting of the Presbyterian Women's Social Club, games were played and wharades and recitations given. Supoer was served and a most enjoyable evening -was spent. The monthly meeting of the Kaikoura County Couneil will be held on Friday next. About thirty applications have been secured for the position of county engineer. A five-roomed house, belonging to Alexander Palmer,. Kowhai, was destroyed by fire, together with its con- I tents. There was an insurance policy Of £l2O on the house. Mr Palmer is 1 a heavy loser by the fire.

WAIAU. A meeting of the committee of the Amuri A. and P. Association was held 1 in the Rotherham Public Hall, when ' the president (Mr R. L. Jameson) presided over a good attendance. The credit balance was shown as £299 17s id. A considerable amount of correspondence was dealt with. The secretary having collected data on the subject, a long discussion took place on the advisability of conducting a flock ewe- competition. It was decided to hold' the matter over till next year. The secretary reported thfit the names of five young judges had been forwarded to the Canterbury A. and P. Association. The resignation of Mr "R. H. Chapman, owing to his having left the district, was acoepted with regret. Part of tlie < show schedule was revised, the remaining portion to be revised at a later date. It was de-. cided that the next annual show be held on Tuesday, March 81st, 1931. Before commencing the ordinary business of the meeting a rote of. symuathv with Mr J. Hoban in the loss iif his wife, and with Messrs Creed Bros, in the loss of their mother was passed in silence, members standing. The last of a series of ping-pong parties, under the auspices of the Waiaa School Committee, was held »n the Xibrary Hall. There .was a good attendance and a very pleasant time ' was spent. A match between married and single resulted in an easy win for the single men. Super was provided by the ladies. Befo« dispersing the Rev. J". Newlands, on behalf of the School Committee, thanked all for the hearty support given to these social gatherings. OMIHI. The animal* ball of the Loyal Qmihi Lodge, 1.0.0. F., was held in the OmihJ Hall and was a g|eat success. The hall was prettily decorated for the occasion. Lurky spot dan®® B were won by Mr G. Warn and Miss A. Hackhouse and Mr H. Croft and Miss Leonie Hamilton. The music was supplied by Surridne's Band, extras being played bv Misses J. Ferguson and R. Hall. Messrs R. Rowney and D. Croft were M.C.'s. WAIPARA. The monthly meeting of the Glenmark Mothers.' Union was held, when there was a large attendance. Mr Marriner, Christchurch gave a most interesting address on the work don at the Maori Girls' College. During the afternoon a collection was taken np in aid of the College. A mating of the Waipara Hall Committee was held, when Mr J. Why presided over a fair attndance.
