The Prime Minister, Mr J. H. Scullin, is unable, owing to sudden illness, to attend the important Premiers' conference and Loan Council negotiations which will open in the presence of Sir Otto Niemeyer to-day. He has issued an appeal to Australians to demonstrate the qualities of trne companionship in an hour of difficulty and at once to begin the task of working out their own salvation. He outlined a number of problems to which he will apply himself at the Imperial Conference. Mr Scullin and Mr Parker Maloney, Minister for Markets, sail by the Oraraa from Fremantle on August 25th for London.
