LAST NIGHT'S MEETING. The Christehurch. City Council met last night, when there were present: The Mayor (Mr J. K., Archer), Crs. T. H. Butterfieldj M.. E. Lyons, .A. W. Beaven, A. E. Armstrong, W. H. Williamson, E. Parlane, J. Parlane, H. T, J. Thacker, J. W. Beanland, E. JR. McComba, E. Andrews, C. E. Jones, and A. A. McLachlan. The financial statement gave the following particulars for tho • past two —General rate outstanding at April Ist, £5090 14s 10d; since collected, £2135 17s > 9d; outstanding £2954 17s Id. Receipts since the previous statement amounted to £41,654 7s 7d, and accounts authorised for payment amounted to £51,184: 12s lid. Abattoir, Market®, and Reserves. The Abattoir, Markets, and Reserves Committee's report recommended that 1 the tender of S. Harrington (£163) be accepted for the erection of a croquet pavilion at Barrington Park. The I estimate of the City Engineer *for. tbe job was £l6O. The report was adopted. By-laws and Finance. With 'regard to its recommendation that a sum of £IOO be advanced to the. Barrington Croquet Club towards the. cost of erecting a .pavilion on the club 's green in Barrington Park, which was referred back to the-By-laws and: Finance Committee by the; Council on' the 4th instant for consideration as to which account the advance was to be made from; tho committee reported that it had again considered the matter, and decided to advance the sum. from tho Contingency Fund of General Account. The Acting City Treasurer had been notified accordingly. The report was adopted. The committee recommended that subject to certain conditions permission be given to Messrs W. Strange and Co. and Messrs Berry and Halliburton to construct a right-of-way 15ft wide between Manchester street and Moorhouse avenue. The report was adopted. A request from Cr. T. If. Butterfield that the footpath along Canal reserve be attended to was referred to . the AVorks Committee, as also was a complaint regarding the state of Kilmore street between Colombo and Manchester streets. !
