CITY ROBBERIES.

OFFICE AND SHOP ENTERED. A thief broko into the offices of Nash (New Zealand) Motors, Ltd., during the week-end and stole £SO. The amount actually taken was £137, but all but £SO was in cheques. Some of the upstairs windows were not locked and as one of them was found partly open yesterday morning it is thought that the thief got in by ' that means. To do this he would have had to climb over the roof of the garage but it is not known how he managed' to get up on to the roof. The office doors facing on to Oxford terrace were locked. . - The money and cheques were in a cash box and this only was disturbed,. It was unusual for such a large sum to be left in the office as. most of the firm's business is done by cheque. A Fruitless Attempt. Nothing was taken by a thief who entered the boot shop of Mr J. J. Pegley at the corner of Manchester street and Tuam street during the weekend. A catch on a window at the back of the shop was forced and on climbing through this the invader was in the workroom. The door from the workroom to the shop was securely locked and an attempt to open it failed. Nothing was disturbed.
