Grave injuries as the result of being struck by a motor-car in Khyber Pass road, Newmarket, this afternoon, were sustained by Harold James Porter, aged five years, whose parents reside at Newmarket. The boy received a fracture of the skull, a broken leg, and abrasions, while he also s ffered severe shock. At a late hour the hospital authorities reported that the condition of the patient was serious. The child was o his way to Newmarket School after the luncheon interval. As he crossed the road a motorcar' which was proceeding up Khyber Pas's, struck him, knocking him down with considerable force. Usually the child is accompanied across the street by an older child, but for some reason the other boy was not there to-day, and the child attemp' 1 to cross the road alone. A tramcar is descending the hill into Newmarket, and it is possible that the- little loy was watching tbia as he ran across.
