Lyons, a member of the Karthqimke hVliof Committee, returned to Christchurch to-day. Obituary. The death occurred last evening of Mrs Margaret Galbraith. A native of County Cork, Ireland, the late Mrs Galbraith was H't years of age, and had spent more than sixty years in the Dominion, she was for forty years a renidont of Kiimara, where her husband, tin- late James Oalbraith, was stationmaster for the tram service, which in the early days connected that town wiih liieyimiiith. Three daughters and two sons survive her. Vice Regal Visit. Owing to a slip at Staircase the bound express did not arrive in Gre--month till 10.30 o'clock to-night. At the Hokitika Magistrate's Court to-day, before Mr W. Meldrum, S.M., the police charged Thomas Edward Roberts, a lad of 17 years, with shooting a white heron at Okarito, with pursuing a pukeko with intent to kill, and with using a gun in pursuit of protected game. He was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within twelve months, and ordered to pay costs. Musical Examinations. The following are the results of the practical examinations held for Trinity College of Music, London, by Dr. Vaughan Thomas at Hokitika yesterday :

Intermediate: Dulcie Downes, Bridgie Frank, Valerie Nightingale, Thelma Pamment, Peggy Gillooly, Duncan Heinz (violin). Junior: Jack Fitzgerald (violin), Claire Cooke (piano). Preparatory: Kathleen Coakley, Minnie Haddock, Betty Haddock, Kitty Hahn. Dr. Thomas expressed himself pleased with the standard of the work, and remarked on the brilliancy of several performances. He commenced examining at Greymouth to-day. Rugby FootbalL The West Coast Rugby Union has definitely decided to send a team to Nelson to play for the Seddon Shield. The team will leave Greymouth by service ear on the 25th inst.
