UNEMPLOYMENT APPEAL. rHE Special Committee appointed by the Christohurch Gity Council to analyse the position relating to Unemployment finds that there are more men out of employment this -rear than last, and earnestly appeals t* the public for subscriptions to provide work with a view to relieving the distress amongst the vromen and children. Donations may be earmarked tot any special project, such as Road Improvements, the Boulevard, or other City Improvements. The Government has promised the sum of £25,000 provided the City finds a similar amount. Every pound subscribed by the citisens will be subsidised by a similar amount twra the Council, and will also earn a further subsidy from the Government.
