GERALDINE.
CHORAL SERVICE. The Geraldine Presbyterian Church was filled to its capacity on Sunday evening, when a special choral service was held. The address was given by the Rev. W. J. Couling. An augmented choir gave several carols, which were interspersed with solos and duets by local and visiting vocalists. Solos were given by Miss Moncur, Mrs A. McKenzie, Mrs Scott (Timaru), Miss Cromer (Timaru), and Mr Nicol (Timaru). Miss Cruickshanks and Mr Nicol sang two very pleasing duets. Bowling. A team from the Geraldine Bowling Club journeyed to Waimate to play for the Bristol Cup. The weather was dull and cold, making conditions for play very unpleasant. The games were of a very close nature, the final score being: Waimate 148, Geraldine 145. Tennis. On Saturday afternoon a team from the Timaru Tennis Club visited Geraldine and played a match with the local club. The weather was dull, but fine. After some very good games the visitors proved to be the winners by a margin of three sets. Salvation Army. There was a large attendance at the anniversary gathering of the Geraldine Salvation Army, which was held in the Citadel. Adjutant Nelson (Young People's secretary of,the Christchurch Division) conducted the proceedings. The greater part of the evening was spent in an interesting programme of musical items, songs, recitations, and dialogues. The prizes won by the Sunday School scholars were presented by Adjutant Nelson. The successful scholars were:—Dulcie Keeble 1, Violet Keeble 2, Alma Keeble and Ronald Keeble 3, equal. General industry: Ellen Keeble, Olene Kennington, Gwenda Wade, George Allen, James Kennington, Thomas Kennington, David Blissett, Allan Kennington, Kodney Kennington. Progress: Pearl Blissett, Arthur Allan, Ivan Allen.
