A FOREIGN OFFER.
LAND NEAR SINGAPORE BASE. (UNITED PBESB ASSOCIATION—BT ELSCTBIO TELEOBAPH—COPIBIQHT.) (Received May 15th, 7.30 p.m.) LONDON. May 14. In the House of Commons Lieuten-ant-Colonel A. P. Heneage asked if Mr Amery knew if a foreign Power had purchased land within gunshot of the Singapore base. Mr Amery said that he had seen a statement that foreign companies had offered to buy from the Sultan of Johore a leased island within the settlement. Be was enquiring into the matter.—Australian Press Association, United Service.
