CANTERBURY CENTRE MEETS,
i'fhe Canterbury Centre Executive ot the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was held last night, Mr H. C. Flowellyn I presiding. Also present were: Messrs E. | H. Gross, R, Beattie. E. Todd, T. Matthews, jK. S. Harper. 0. H. Taylor, .jun., A. L, Lewis, and Q. G. Lockwood (hon secretary). | Various members reported on recent athJ letic meetings, showing that Cheviot, Akaroa, ! Waikari, Kaiapoi, and New Brighton had held successful meetings. The secretary reported that an Amateur Athletic Club, had been formed in Sumner. The chairman said that the meeting at Sumner had been most enthusiastic, and the prospects for the new club were excellent. The Headmasters' Association wrote advising that they could not see their way clear to interest themselves in the proposed boys' cycle races, as they favoured only those games which would "keep the children under the teacherß' control. The meeting considered in committee the complaints that had been made against two cyclists who were charged with making threats to upset another rider in a race at the Kaiapoi sports on April 7th. Resuming in open meeting, the chairman reported that the rid> ers in question had been cautioned. A snb-eommittee to control harriers' running was elected as follows: Messrs C. H. Taylor, jun. (chairman), E. A. Lee, H. Coobson, C. 6. Mahan, G. L. Austin, and G. 1. Lockwood.
