WOOLSTON METHODIST SPRING SALE.
The annual spring sale of the Woolston Methodist Church was held last week. The sale was opened by Mrs G. who congratulated the ladies on their work and wished them every success at" the sale. There were the usual stalls, presided over by the following ladies:—Work stall, Mrs Metcalf and Mrs McHarg; fancy stall,. Mrs Speerand Mrs H. Newton; home dainties, Mrs Falkingham, Mrs Moore, Mrs Atkinson, Mrs F. Newton; produce, Mrs Parks; crockery, Mrs Radcliffe; ■sweets, Misses Pegler and Townsend; flower, Mrs Busing, Mrs Findlay; bran tub, Misses Radcliffe: tearoom, Mrs Townsend, Mrs King, Misses Moore and King; cooking competitions, Mrs Turner. The cooking competition was judged by Miss Gofton, who awarded the following prizes:—Adults: Fruit cake, Mrs Ei..Jlay 1, Mrs Makin 2, Mrs McHarg 3; £ruit cake, special, Miss Steele 1; sponge sandwich, Mrs Radcliffe 1, Mrs Falkingham 2; shortbread, Mrs Radcliffe 1, Mrs Speer 2. Children's section: Toffee, Dorothy Taylor. Eileen Taylor, Ist equal, Rita Makin 3; sponge sandwich, Edna Grenfell 1, Kathleen Steele 2; scones, Rita Makin 1, Ruby Suckling 2, Meg King 3; queen cakes, Kathleen Steele and Eileen Taylor 1, Meg King 3.* On Wednesday evening a musical programme was given by the gentlemen of the choir, assisted by friends, and on Thursday evening a wireless entertainment was given by Mr H v Newton.
