CITY ORGAN.
COUNCIL TO MAKE PURCHASE. The City Council decided last night to purchase an organ for the Concert Hall in Manchester street. Cr. J. W. Beanland, chairman of tho Concert Hall Committee, said that the committee had that afternoon met and discussed the question, and recommended that an organ be installed at a price which could be met out of the amount in hand from the insurance on the organ destroyed in His Majesty's Theatre fire some years ago. He understood that there was the sum of £7OOO in hand. He moved that an organ be installed at a cost not exceeding £BOOO, and added that while an organ might, be obtained for £7OOO, a slightly larger sum might be necessary. This was seconded by Cr. A. E Herbert. Cr. H. T. Armstrong said that there were specifications in hand for an organ, which Dr. Bradshaw estimated could be purchased for £7OOO. The Mayor (Mr J.. K. Archer): I am told by the Town Clerk that bv the end of the year the amount in hand, with interest, would be about £7500. It was decided that an organ be purchased at an amount which would not exceed the sum in hand.
