THE FREEDOM OF THE CITY OF SHEFFIELD.
On November 30tli, last year, when .Mr J. G. Coates, M.C., Prime Minister, was in Sheffield, he was prcsentcd>with the Freedom of the City and at the simo time with an exceedingly handsome cabinet of Cutlery, made by Messrs Joseph Rogers and Sons, Ltd., of that city. This cabinet was of Spanish Mahogany, and of special design, and contained HI pieces of "Chippendale" Pattern. "Star and Cross" Stainless Steel Knives with Sterling Sihcr Handles, Spoons, and Forks. The cabinet drawers were fitted with Art Metal Handles, and the lower drawer could be used for Table Llnon. Tho Waiter Tray was fitted with legs. , It seemed very fitting that the City of Sheffield should make a presentation of Joseph Rodgers and Sons, Ltd., "Star and Cross Cutlery. On such an occasion only thy best cutlery In Sheffield could be given, and thus it was that only Joseph Rodgers and Sons. Ltd., could give what was required. For this world-famed house faithfully represents the ideal of the city of great cutlers—an ideal that "Rodgers" set for others two sod a half centuries ago, and which tbey have painstakingly followed to the present day.
