SINKS WITHIN SIGHT OF PARENTS. (raiss msociatio* tilbobmc.) I'ALMERSTON N., February 14. A distressing drowning accident occurred at Moanaroa, near Hangitikoi Heads, yesterday afternoon, the victim being Ernest James Brightwcll, aged seventeen. The youth was swimming with his sister, and when the tide was receding at three o'clock both were noticed to be in difficulties a short distance from the shore. Both were carried out. but the girl was rescued with a life-line. The boy sank 2(X)yd.s out in full view of his parents and other spectators before assistance could bo not to him.
