IPRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) HASTINGS, February 14. Wlii't: bathing in rough surf at Wniinarnuu Heath yesterday, Alexander .Mitchell \\ lghton, aged 48. a married man, and a farmer, of Hustings, got into difficulties in the strong undertow and was drowned, notwithstanding the efforts of those in the water and on the shore, who organised a life-saving team. Miss Doris Hone, who swam to Wighton to warn him not to go too far out, got into difficulties herself, but she was rescued. Pat Barker went out with the line, but could not locate Wighton, and had to be hauled ashore. Soon after, Wighton's body was sighted and brought to land, but all efforts to revive him failed. A bather at Hnumoann Beach yesterday was rescued only with difficulty.
