Tiie threatened rupture ol" the Steel Trust formed by the French, German, Belgian, and Luxembourg magnates has been averted by the withdrawal of the German resignations and a revision of the quotas by which Germany will pay less to the common compensation fund, but is promising to limit her exports to France. The general policy is to cut down production in order to combat the world tendency toward lower prices. There is now a belief that Britain may soon be persuaded to enter the cartel.
