The Government has just purchased a pretty Berlin girl, Who was a slave at Kabul, Afghanistan. An Afghan tobacco merchant, Abdulla. Khan, married her in Berlin in 1921 and during the period when prices Were soaring and the currency falling, decided to return honie, taking his wife and child, employing his wife as interpreter. Abdullah and his wife lived happily until the husband died, whereupon the girl was informed that, according to the laws of the Afridi tribe, sho Was her husband's property, and therefore passed, together with his belongings, to his brother. The latter was willing to marry the Berlin girl, but the widow objected, and, in accordange with his rights, the bi;Othei'-in»law sent her to the slave market. tri order to rescue her from slavery the German diplomatic representative purchasod her.
